SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Joshua "Josh" Basala, who passed away
4on November 1, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Josh Basala was born to Rian and Joni Basala in
6Rock Island on December 28, 1976; he attended Roosevelt
7Elementary School, Willson Jr. High School, and Sherrard High
8School, where he excelled in basketball and football; he
9enlisted in the U.S. Navy through the Buddy Program in 1996; he
10completed basic training at Naval Station Great Lakes before
11undergoing training in Millington, Tennessee and later in
12Miramar, California, where he worked on electronics for F-18
13Hornets at Naval Air Station Cecil Field; he was deployed
14aboard the U.S.S. Eisenhower and was soon transferred to Naval
15Air Station Oceana, where he served the remainder of his
16enlistment; he married Tiffany Johnson on April 11, 1997; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Josh Basala worked as a tinner and HVAC
18technician in the Quad Cities; he opened The Sneaker Vault in
192020, becoming a well-known figure in the shoe and vintage
20clothing community; he then started Olde Town Heating, Air,
21and Duct Cleaning Services in 2021; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Josh Basala coached and served in various roles

1for many local sports teams and leagues; he was also a member
2of Local 91; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Josh Basala dedicated his life to supporting his
4sons in their sports endeavors, cherishing every journey he
5made across the U.S. to attend their games and celebrating in
6their successes with immense pride; he will be remembered for
7his kindness and generosity; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Josh Basala was preceded in death by his
9grandparents; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Josh Basala is survived by his wife; his sons,
11Bailey (Brooke Nelson) Basala and Brody (Zoe McKinney) Basala;
12his mother and stepfather, Joni Basala and Alberto Favela; his
13father and stepmother, Rian Basala and Denise Basala; his
14brothers, Gabe (Amanda Marshall) Favela, Seth Basala, Adam
15(Jessica) Basala, and Brandon (Amanda) Mrazek; his
16stepsiblings, Adan Favela, Raul Favela, and Iceis Sindt; and
17his aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews; therefore, be
18it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
21Joshua "Josh" Basala and extend our sincere condolences to his
22family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
