SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Marlene Becker of Deerfield, who
4passed away on November 20, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marlene Becker was born to Irvin and Helen
6(Clements) Reetz in Le Crescent, Minnesota on July 18, 1941;
7she lived in Minnesota and Wisconsin and graduated from
8Waukesha High School; she moved to Chicago and met her
9husband; they eventually settled in Deerfield and lived there
10for over 50 years; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Marlene Becker was a member of the Townley
12Women's Club of Deerfield and the Deerfield Women's Gourmet
13Group; she volunteered for many years at Misericordia and
14Lambs Farm to support individuals with disabilities; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Marlene Becker was an avid gardener, an
16outstanding baker, and a die-hard fan of the Chicago Cubs; she
17and her husband spent their summers in Lake Delavan,
18Wisconsin; she was a caring aunt, cousin, and friend to many;
19and
 
20    WHEREAS, Marlene Becker was preceded in death by Charles
21Reetz, Phillip (Betty) Reetz, and Bill (Meredith) Becker; and

1    WHEREAS, Marlene Becker was the wife of Jerry Becker for
258 years, the mother of Heidi, Jim (Anna), and Christine, the
3grandmother of Katherine, Thomas, and Caleigh, the sister of
4Bernard Reetz and Joey Reetz (the late Charles) Anderson, and
5the sister-in-law of Janet Becke; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Marlene Becker and extend our sincere condolences to her
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Marlene Becker as an expression of
13our deepest sympathy.
