SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Richard Andrew DiPietro of Park Ridge,
4who passed away on March 2, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Richard DiPietro was born to Nicholas and Teresa
6DiPietro on June 2, 1943; he was raised in Chicago and
7graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1961; he married
8Kathleen "Kathy" DiPietro in 1962; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Richard DiPietro worked in the typesetting
10industry, beginning his career with TotalTypography before
11opening his own company, The TypeSmiths, Inc. in 1981; his
12company eventually evolved into CrossTech Communications, from
13which he retired in 2013; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Richard DiPietro had an interest in community
15issues, which led to his election as president of the Park
16Ridge Manor Community Association; subsequently, he was
17elected as an alderperson of the 2nd Ward in Park Ridge,
18serving for five terms from 1995 until 2013; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Richard DiPietro was a member of the Typographers
20International Association, where he served in multiple roles,
21including as president in 1992; additionally, he volunteered

1with the church services at St. Benedict's Nursing Home for 25
2years; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Richard DiPietro was a devoted husband and
4father, known for his commitment to his family, his dry sense
5of humor, and his preference for working over taking
6vacations; he loved politics and the University of Notre Dame;
7and
 
8    WHEREAS, Richard DiPietro was preceded in death by his
9parents; his in-laws, Edward Wenigman and Betty Wenigman; his
10sister, Antoinette Fabianski; his infant son, Richard Gerard
11DiPietro; his infant grandson, Joshua McPherson; his infant
12great-grandson, Jack Kretschmar; his brother-in-law, Jack
13Marinelli; and other extended relatives; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Richard DiPietro is survived by his wife; his
15children, Robin (Stephanie Sherman) DiPietro, Beth (Andrew)
16McPherson, Tom (Katherine) DiPietro, Tracy (Sean) McCarthy,
17Amy Kawiecki, Megan (Michael) Steele, and Ryan (Kathryn)
18DiPietro; his grandchildren, Nathan (Maureen), Aaron (Cara),
19Zachary (Lauren), Chelsea (Andrew Kretschmar), Jacob
20(Kaitlyn), Cassidy, Justin (Lily Elderkin), Kristen, Chris
21(Shannon), Kaitlyn, Danielle, Samantha, Peter (Ellie), Paige,
22Caroline, Alex, Riley, Colin, Jackson, Anna, Savannah, Tyler,
23Nicholas, and Grace; 11 great-grandchildren; his sister, Marie

1Marinelli; his brothers-in-law, Frank Fabianski and Edward
2Wenigman; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members,
3and friends; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Richard Andrew DiPietro and extend our sincere condolences to
7his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Richard DiPietro as an expression
11of our deepest sympathy.
