SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Donald E. Nolan of Taylorville, who passed away on October 27, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Donald Nolan was born on October 23, 1931 in Taylorville; his parents were Edward J. and Elta G. Nolan; he married Mary R. Yonikus on November 22, 1958 at St. Mary's Church in Assumption; and

WHEREAS, Donald Nolan attended Bradley University before leaving to join the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict; and

WHEREAS, Donald Nolan was a retired farmer and was passionate about agriculture; in 1979, he served as a wagon master for Illinois during the "tractorcade" to Washington D.C. for the American Agriculture Movement; he was an original board member for the Illinois Tractor Pulling Association and was well known for competing with his Minneapolis Moline G1000, named "Yellow Fever"; and

WHEREAS, Donald Nolan was a motorsports enthusiast and especially enjoyed racing his Triumph motorcycle in the 1950s and 1960s; he competed in the Springfield Mile and the Peoria Tourist Trophy, among many other races; he also enjoyed traveling with his wife in their RV, attending their grandsons' activities, and watching the St. Louis Cardinals and the Fighting Illini; and

WHEREAS, Donald Nolan was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Taylorville and the Knights of Columbus; and

WHEREAS, Donald Nolan was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Patty Beyers; and

WHEREAS, Donald Nolan is survived by his wife, Mary Nolan; his daughter, Kathy (Mike) Drea; his grandsons, Nolan Drea and Ryan Drea; his brother, Larry Nolan; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Donald E. Nolan; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Donald Nolan as an expression of our sympathy.
