SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Russell "Russ" Lyle Sheese of Moline, who passed away on July 17, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Russ Sheese was born to Lloyd and Lucille (Summers) Sheese in Buffalo Prairie on July 19, 1937; in his youth, he enjoyed playing baseball and basketball; after high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served in Japan; soon after returning to the U.S., he married the love of his life, Patricia Ranney, at the Aledo United Methodist Church on December 7, 1958; and

WHEREAS, Russ Sheese retired from the Eagle Warehouse in Milan, Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Russ Sheese was a member of the Aledo United Methodist Church and later joined Riverside Methodist Church after moving to Moline; and

WHEREAS, Russ Sheese enjoyed bowling and golfing with friends; he loved making home movies and videos and was a true family man, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather; and

WHEREAS, Russ Sheese was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Richard "Dick" Sheese and LaVon Rannow; and his half-brother, Walter "Bud" Davison; and

WHEREAS, Russ Sheese is survived by his wife; his children, Melanie (Daryl) Strathdee and Valerie (Clif) Anderson; his grandchildren, Kaylea and Justin Anderson; his step-grandchildren, Leah Niles and Emily Strathdee; and his two step-great-grandsons; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Russell "Russ" Lyle Sheese and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Russ Sheese as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
