SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Lawrence A. "Larry" Hammond of Milan, who passed away on December 5, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Larry Hammond was born in Rock Island to Lawrence W. and Kathryn (Kelty) Hammond on February 3, 1948; he married Linda L. Groom on September 17, 1966; he served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne; and

WHEREAS, Larry Hammond was a drywall contractor; he was later employed at Jordan Catholic School in Rock Island; and

WHEREAS, Larry Hammond was a member of the Milan American Legion and several veteran's organizations; he loved spending time with his family, playing with his grandson, fishing, and building radio controlled planes; and

WHEREAS, Larry Hammond was preceded in death by his parents; his sons, Thomas Hammond and Tony Hammond; and his brother, Joe Hammond; and

WHEREAS, Larry Hammond is survived by his wife, Linda; his son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Amy Hammond; his grandson, Tanner; his foster granddaughters; and his sisters, Sandra, Laura, Roberta, Christa, and Barbara; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Lawrence A. "Larry" Hammond and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Larry Hammond as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
