SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Harold B. Rawley of Norris, who passed away on December 18, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Harold Rawley was born to Lee Roy and Clara (Hedges) Rawley in Breeds; he served in the U.S. Army; he married Dorothy J. Steagall-Mitchell on November 14, 1962, and she preceded him in death on July 27, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Harold Rawley retired from International Harvester in Canton in 1974; and

WHEREAS, Harold Rawley was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Canton; he was also a member of the Canton VFW and a past member of the Moose Lodge; and

WHEREAS, Harold Rawley was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Cecil Rawley; his stepson, Donald Mitchell; his brothers, Jesse and Cecil; and his sisters, Elsie, Lucile, Burnice, Reba, Evelyn, and Vera; and

WHEREAS, Harold Rawley is survived by his stepsons, Paul Mitchell, James Mitchell, Thomas Mitchell, Richard (Jessie) Mitchell, and Stephen (Martha) Mitchell; numerous grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Harold B. Rawley and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Harold Rawley as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
