SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Charles B. Knox III of Silvis, who passed away on January 19, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Charles Knox was born to Charles Jr. Knox and Betty Jean (Holstrom) Knox in Rock Island on January 21, 1946; he graduated from Rock Island High School in 1964; he married Barbara A. Denys in Davenport, Iowa on July 15, 1987; he served in the U.S. Army; and

WHEREAS, Charles Knox worked for Sivyer Steel for 27 years; he then worked for John Deere for 10 years; and

WHEREAS, Charles Knox was a member of the United Auto Workers (UAW); and

WHEREAS, Charles Knox enjoyed spending time at the cabin his parents built on the Rock River; and

WHEREAS, Charles Knox was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Charles Knox is survived by his wife; his children, Jennifer L. (Mark) Rummell, Michael C. Knox, and Candace (Bruce) Woods; his grandchildren, Charles Francisco Rummell, Adrian McDevitt, Robert Hunter Woods, Summer (Zachary) O'Leary, and Derek (Jericha) Woods; and his lifelong friends, Bill Leisteko and Mary Leisteko; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Charles B. Knox III and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Charles Knox as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
