| SENATE RESOLUTION
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois | 3 |
| learned with sadness of the death of Clarence Williams of | 4 |
| Chicago on April 1, 2005; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Williams was born August 28, 1924, in Round | 6 |
| Lake, Mississippi to Oliver Sr. and Roberta Williams; he was | 7 |
| the fourth of six children; and
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, His youth was spent in Clarksdale, Mississippi, | 9 |
| where he attended the White Plains Elementary School; he | 10 |
| married Bessie Lee Hunter on April 25, 1948, and they had 12 | 11 |
| children; and
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, In 1950, Mr. Williams moved his family to Chicago, | 13 |
| and he worked at Pyle National until he retired in 1988 after | 14 |
| 38 years; he attended Sunrise MB Church and Shiloh MB Church; | 15 |
| and
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, He was a loving father, a gentle grandfather, and | 17 |
| a gracious great-grandfather; and
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, his | 19 |
| brothers, Oliver Jr. and R.T.; his sisters, Ethel, Roberta, and | 20 |
| Rosie Mae; and one daughter, Diane Ramey; and
| 21 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Clarence Williams is felt by all | 22 |
| who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Bessie, his | 23 |
| daughters, Ethel Burks-Joyner (Reynold), Mildred Bennett | 24 |
| (Jerome Sr.), Tammy Brown (Arch), and Tisa and Michele | 25 |
| Williams; his sons, Clarence Jr. (Jollyette), Jimmy | 26 |
| (Jeanette), James (Darlene), Henry (Vernetria), Kenneth | 27 |
| (Kimberly), and Michael; his 29 grandchildren and 19 | 28 |
| great-grandchildren; his god daughter, Cynthia Cooley; his god | 29 |
| son, Tommy Cooper; and a host of other relatives and friends; |

| therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL | 3 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 4 |
| Clarence Williams and extend our sincere condolences to his | 5 |
| family, friends, and community; and be it further
| 6 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 7 |
| presented to his family as an expression of our deepest | 8 |
| sympathy.
