1     AN ACT concerning local government.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Chicago Park District Act is amended by
5 adding Section 26.10-12 as follows:
 
6     (70 ILCS 1505/26.10-12 new)
7     Sec. 26.10-12. District enlarged. The Chicago Park
8 District shall accept the following described parcel of land
9 from the Illinois International Port District (IIPD) for public
10 recreational and conservation purposes:
11         Approximately 40 acres of land on the eastern shore of
12     Lake Calumet that are not used by the IIPD for port or
13     maritime activities. The eastern shore of Lake Calumet
14     includes the only pier in Lake Calumet that is completely
15     devoid of industrial development. The eastern shore of Lake
16     Calumet is identified and defined in the Calumet Area Land
17     Use Plan adopted by the Chicago Plan Commission.
18     The transfer must occur as soon as possible, but no later
19 than one year, after the effective date of this amendatory Act
20 of the 96th General Assembly.
 
21     Section 10. The Illinois International Port District Act is
22 amended by adding Section 7.7 as follows:

1     (70 ILCS 1810/7.7 new)
2     Sec. 7.7. Transfer of property to the Chicago Park
3 District. The Illinois International Port District (IIPD) is
4 directed to transfer to the Chicago Park District the following
5 described parcel of land for public recreational and
6 conservation purposes:
7         Approximately 40 acres of land on the eastern shore of
8     Lake Calumet that are not used by the IIPD for port or
9     maritime activities. The eastern shore of Lake Calumet
10     includes the only pier in Lake Calumet that is completely
11     devoid of industrial development. The eastern shore of Lake
12     Calumet is identified and defined in the Calumet Area Land
13     Use Plan adopted by the Chicago Plan Commission.
14     The transfer must occur as soon as possible, but no later
15 than one year, after the effective date of this amendatory Act
16 of the 96th General Assembly.
 
17     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
18 becoming law.
