SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

220 ILCS 5/8-209 new

Amends the Public Utilities Act. Provides that a public utility must release an account hold on a customer's account within 48 hours after the customer has made a payment in full to the public utility.

AN ACT concerning utilities.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Public Utilities Act is amended by adding Section 8-209 as follows:

Sec. 8-209. Customer account holds. A public utility must release an account hold on a customer's account within 48 hours after the customer has made a payment in full to the public utility.
