AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 196

AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 196, AS AMENDED, by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the following:

"Section 5. The Child Care Act of 1969 is amended by adding Section 5.4 as follows:

(225 ILCS 10/5.4 new)

Sec. 5.4. Child care facilities; Child and Adult Care Food Program. Child care facilities that provide meal services to children in their care shall, if eligible, apply for the federally funded Child and Adult Care Food Program administered by the State Board of Education. The Department of Children and Family Services shall allow a child care facility to opt out of the requirements of this Section, but that child care facility must do so in writing, in a form prescribed by the Department of Children and Family Services.

The State Board of Education shall provide to child care facilities information regarding the federally funded Child and Adult Care Food Program, including, but not limited to, information on the application process and eligibility for the program.".
