Appropriates $1,500,000 from the General Revenue Fund to
the State Board of Education to operate the Giant Steps pilot
program and make grants to school districts for the purpose
of autism study, evaluation, and related teacher training.

1 AN ACT making an appropriation to the State Board of
2 Education.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The amount of $1,500,000, or so much of that
6 amount as may be necessary, is appropriated from the General
7 Revenue Fund to the State Board of Education to operate the
8 Giant Steps pilot program and make grants to school districts
9 for the purpose of autism study, evaluation, and related
10 teacher training over the next 3 years.
11 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July
12 1, 1997.
