Synopsis As Introduced Amends the Litter Control Act and the Illinois Adopt-A-Highway Act. Provides that a person convicted of violating the Litter Control Act by disposing of litter along a highway may, in addition to any other penalty, be required to maintain litter control, for a period of 30 days, over a designated portion of the highway, including the site where the offense occurred. Provides that the Secretary of Transportation shall adopt rules to implement the Illinois Adopt-A-Highway Act provision.
House Committee Amendment No. 1 Provides that the provisions apply to an individual (rather than to a person) who violates the Litter Control Act. Provides that the agency having jurisdiction over the portion of the highway where the offense occurred shall determine whether the designated portion of the highway over which litter control is to be maintained shall include the site where the offense occurred. Deletes language providing that the Department of Transportation shall adopt rules for implementing the Adopt-A-Highway Act provision.
