Synopsis As Introduced Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that a fire chief may drive a vehicle using red or white oscillating, rotating, or flashing lights if the vehicle is designated or authorized as a fire department, fire protection district, or township fire department vehicle and the designation or authorization is carried in the vehicle.
House Committee Amendment No. 1 Provides that a fire chief must have completed an emergency vehicle operation training course approved by the Office of the State Fire Marshal, and that the lights may be visible or activated only when responding to a bona fide emergency.
