SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Curtis L. "Curt" Whitten of Moline, who passed away on February 6, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Curt Whitten was born in Pensacola, Florida to Jimmie R. and Linda Sue (Newingham) Whitten on February 14, 1963; he served in the United States Army; he married Rosetta G. Schomer in Andalusia on December 19, 1981; and

WHEREAS, Curt Whitten worked as a painter at the Rock Island Arsenal; he also did mechanic work at the Arsenal; and

WHEREAS, Curt Whitten was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and the Chicago Cubs; he enjoyed being outdoors, hiking, camping, traveling to his cabin up north, and spending time with his grandchildren and family; and

WHEREAS, Curt Whitten was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents; and

WHEREAS, Curt Whitten is survived by his wife, Rose Whitten; his children, Julie (Steven Clausen) Whitten, Curtis R. (Julie) Whitten, and Steaphanie (Jesse) Smith; his grandchildren, Alexander, Alie, Hayley, Desi, Emily, and Anna; his brother, John (Rebecca) Whitten; his sister, Jeanine (Walter) McIntosh; his four nieces; and his nephew; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Curtis L. "Curt" Whitten and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Curt Whitten as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
