SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Patricia Spagat, who passed away on September 22, 2018 at the age of 89; and

WHEREAS, Patricia Spagat was a former teacher who supported many environmental and humanitarian causes, including advocating for animals and LGBTQ rights; in continuing with her efforts to make the world a better place, she donated her body to Science Care for medical research; and

WHEREAS, Patricia Spagat was a dedicated volunteer and longtime member of the Democratic Party of Oak Park; she also supported and volunteered with the Animal Care League and the Tree House Humane Society; and

WHEREAS, Patricia Spagat enjoyed sitting on her front porch and waving to the people and the dogs who passed by or played in the park across the street; and

WHEREAS, Patricia Spagat was preceded in death by her husband, David; and

WHEREAS, Patricia Spagat is survived by her brother, John Picchiotti; her children, Susan (David) Moore, Michael (Karen) Spagat, and Robert (Toni) Spagat; her grandchildren, Daniel, Grant, Isabella, Lucas, Henry, Oskar, and Anton; her many nieces and nephews and their families; her loyal friends; and her much-loved pets, particularly her rescue dog, Paula; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Patricia Spagat and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Patricia Spagat as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
