SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Thomas J. Vana of Des Plaines, who passed away on March 20, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Vana was born on March 16 1949; he attended St. Stephen Elementary School in Des Plaines and Notre Dame College Prep High School in Niles; he served as a medic in the 2nd Infantry Division in Korea during the Vietnam conflict; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Vana worked for the United States Postal Service for 30 years; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Vana, along with his family, was active at St. Stephen Protomartyr Church in Des Plaines; he served as vice commander of the VFW in Des Plaines; he will be remembered as a kind and caring man who was a great asset to the community and the VFW; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Vana was the beloved husband of Mary Karen Vana, the loving father of Thomas and Michael Vana, the adored grandfather of Epifhany Vana, the dear brother of Craig (Cindy) Vana, Mariann (Paul) Bilodeau, Roy (Barbara) Vana, Pam (Tom) Erkel, Tim (Julie) Vana, Libby (Bill) Giovanni, Ellen (Joe) Ecker, Christopher Vana, and Charlie (Jill) Vana, and the cherished uncle of many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Thomas J. Vana and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Thomas Vana as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
