HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Wilbert Dilworth, who passed away on February 25, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Wilbert Dilworth was born to Leon and Luella Dilworth in Corinth, Mississippi on February 24 1939; he attended Gwen Doss School in Corinth; he relocated to Memphis, Tennessee with his family at the age of nine; he continued his education at St. Augustine; he moved to Chicago in 1956; he met Minnie Jordan, and they had three children; he later met Henrene in 1984, and she was his companion for 38 years; and

WHEREAS, Wilbert Dilworth, as a young adult, understood he had to work to provide for himself; after moving to Chicago, he immediately secured work as a car detailer; he was known to hold multiple jobs at a time; he landed a career with the 738 Union and retired in the early 2000s; and

WHEREAS, Wilbert Dilworth committed to his faith at an early age, first attending Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Corinth, Mississippi; he later joined New Zion Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee; and

WHEREAS, Wilbert Dilworth loved people, music, and food, especially sweets; he found great pleasure in the simple things in life, including watching birds from the porch; he greeted everyone with warmth and a smile; and

WHEREAS, Wilbert Dilworth was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Ruby Norman, Elizabeth Thomas, and Dorothy Roulette; and his grandson, Gregory Donte Randle; and

WHEREAS, Wilbert Dilworth is survived by his children, Sherry (Oliver) Dilworth Adams, Daphne Dilworth, Bradley Dilworth, and Marie Randle; his life companion, Henrene Hogan; his brother, Frank (Faye) Dilworth; his grandchildren, Andre, Jalyn, Justin, Bradley Jr., Deja, Miranda (Craig), Craig, Tracey, Aniyah, Aaron, and Mekhi; his very special grandson, Marcus; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Wilbert Dilworth and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Wilbert Dilworth as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
