SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Roy George Hlavacek, who passed away on August 29, 2021 at the age of 83; and

WHEREAS, Roy Hlavacek was born to George and Lillian Hlavacek on September 17, 1937; and

WHEREAS, Roy Hlavacek earned his bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1960 and his MBA from the University of Chicago in 1969; and

WHEREAS, Roy Hlavacek was a food industry engineer and communications professional; he worked as a project engineer at Swift Foods, a publisher at Putnam Publishing and Delta Communications, and an executive at the Institute of Food Technologists; and

WHEREAS, Roy Hlavacek was an integral part of the Oak Park philanthropic community; he established a commission to support the preservation of Frank Lloyd Wright's local architecture and was a co-founder of the Ernest Hemingway Foundation of Oak Park; and

WHEREAS, At the time of his death, Roy Hlavacek was survived by his wife, Nancy (Wroblaski) Hlavacek; his children, Carrie (Dustin) Felix and Alex (Karen) Hlavacek; and his granddaughter, Hanna Hlavacek; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Roy George Hlavacek and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Roy Hlavacek as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
