SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to congratulate Jeremy Swerling on his retirement and commend him for his professional career with the Danville Symphony Orchestra (DSO) for 28 years, contributing to its artistic and financial success; and

WHEREAS, Jeremy Swerling has brought the DSO from being a semi-professional orchestra to a fully professional regional orchestra, which is now comparable with or surpasses other regional orchestras in Illinois and western Indiana; and

WHEREAS, Jeremy Swerling has attracted and developed a corps of dedicated musicians, fostering collaboration with other Danville arts organizations, creating educational opportunities for youth, and engaging in community outreach; and

WHEREAS, Jeremy Swerling's devotion, service, and connections with Danville community members have contributed to building not only the musical excellence of the DSO but also ensuring its longevity and financial health; and

WHEREAS, Jeremy Swerling has become known for his stability, professionalism, and artistic vision, which have made the DSO a beloved and respected institution in the Danville community and beyond; and

WHEREAS, Jeremy Swerling has announced his retirement as music director of the DSO, effective after the final concert of the 2022-2023 season; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Jeremy Swerling on his retirement and commend him for his decades of service to the Danville Symphony Orchestra (DSO) and his community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we wish Jeremy Swerling a happy and fulfilling retirement and a new chapter in his life, knowing that he will continue to inspire and enrich the lives of those around him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Jeremy Swerling as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
