SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Freddie P. Taylor of Rock Island, who passed away on September 27, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Freddie Taylor was born in Huntingdon, Tennessee on January 20, 1938; he was raised by his mother, Hazel (Taylor) Harrison, and his grandparents, Emanuel Taylor and Bertie (Alexander) Taylor; he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War; he married Kathy Jo McNamara, and she preceded him in death on December 3, 2020; he was previously married to Beverly Boyd; and

WHEREAS, Freddie Taylor worked at John Deere, Service Rubber, and different nightclubs; and

WHEREAS, Freddie Taylor loved fishing, hunting, bowling, playing cards, and watching sports and western movies; and

WHEREAS, Freddie Taylor was preceded in death by his mother; his grandparents; his grandson, Jerrell Gabriel Sr.; his brother, Robert Taylor; his sister, Peggy Taylor; his niece, India Taylor; his aunt, Ida Mae Taylor; and his great-nephews, Eric Cunningham and Marcus Kelly; and

WHEREAS, Freddie Taylor is survived by his daughters, Yolanda Gabriel and Lita Taylor; his son, Rod Taylor; his grandson, Tremaine Gabriel; his stepchildren, Lisa Lema, Nicole (Daylen) Daniels, and Jason (Emily) Benge; a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and his special friends who were like siblings, Darrell Lowe and Lori Hamilton; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Freddie P. Taylor and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Freddie Taylor as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
