SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Richard "Rich" Martin of Port Byron, who passed away on December 5, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Rich Martin was born to Robert and Mildred Martin in Moline on February 13, 1945; he graduated from Moline High School in 1963 and briefly attended Black Hawk College; he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War; he married Linda (Frits) Martin in 1969, and they later divorced; he married Donna (Bielema) Martin in 1981; and

WHEREAS, Rich Martin was employed as a journeyman machine repairman at JD Planter for 37.7 years; and

WHEREAS, Rich Martin was a member of the Quad City's Vintage Rods; and

WHEREAS, Rich Martin loved his 1937 Ford, which he had for over 50 years; and

WHEREAS, Rich Martin is survived by his wife; his children, Amie, Drew, and Jody; his grandchildren, Nathan and Melissa; his sister, Diane (Dave) Ballard; his brother, Tom; five nieces; and many friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Richard "Rich" Martin and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Rich Martin as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
