HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are honored to congratulate Cyril A. "Bud" Stobaugh Jr. on the occasion of his retirement as Mayor of the City of Farmington; and

WHEREAS, Bud Stobaugh was born on October 23, 1931, to Cyril A. Stobaugh Sr. and Mary Boldys; he graduated from Farmington Community High School in 1949; and

WHEREAS, Bud Stobaugh began working for the Caterpillar Tractor Company on February 6, 1950; he retired as a technical writer in the Service Information Department in January of 1991, after 41 years of dedicated service; and

WHEREAS, Bud Stobaugh voluntarily enlisted in the United States Air Force on April 4, 1951, and served during the Korean War; he was honorably discharged on November 13, 1953, and held the designation of inactive reserve for 8 years until the end of the war; and

WHEREAS, Bud Stobaugh was a member of the Farmington City Council and served as the City of Farmington Police Commissioner for 8 years; he was elected to a 2-year term as Mayor of Farmington on April 1, 2003, and served 2 four-year terms; and

WHEREAS, Bud Stobaugh married Norma Jeanne Paine on July 3, 1954; together, they had 4 children, Michael, James, Patricia (St. Tourangeau), and Timothy Stobaugh, and 6 grandchildren, David Stobaugh, Sarah Stobaugh, Ryan Stobaugh, Rachel Stobaugh, Erica Stobaugh, and Marc Tourangeau; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Cyril A. "Bud" Stobaugh Jr. on the occasion of his retirement as Mayor of the City of Farmington and thank him for his dedicated service and leadership to the City of Farmington; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Bud Stobaugh as an expression of our esteem and respect.
