    Amends the Property Tax Code. Provides that each taxing district shall publish specified information concerning the district's property tax rate and extension. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning revenue.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Property Tax Code is amended by adding
5Division 2.2 to Article 18 as follows:
 
6    (35 ILCS 200/Art. 18 Div. 2.2 heading new)

9    Sec. 18-104. Required disclosures.
10    (a) As used in this Section:
11    "Collection year" means the calendar year in which
12property taxes levied for the previous calendar year are
13collected.
14    "Levy year" means the taxable year for which property
15taxes are levied that are collected in the collection year.
16    "Taxing district" has the meaning specified in Section
171-150 and includes home rule units.
18    (b) By February 1 of each collection year, beginning with
19the 2024 collection year, each taxing district shall publish
20the following information on the taxing district's publicly
21accessible website, if the taxing district uses such a
22website, and in a newspaper of general circulation published

1in the taxing district:
2        (1) the taxing district's property tax rate for the
3    levy year;
4        (2) the taxing district's property tax rate for the
5    immediately preceding levy year;
6        (3) the total dollar amount of the taxing district's
7    extension for the levy year;
8        (4) the total dollar amount of the taxing district's
9    extension for the immediately preceding levy year;
10        (5) the property tax liability for the levy year for
11    each $100,000 of fair market value.
12    (c) A home rule unit may not regulate the publication of
13property tax information in a manner that is inconsistent with
14the regulation by the State of the publication of property tax
15information under this Section. This Section is a limitation
16under subsection (i) of Section 6 of Article VII of the
17Illinois Constitution on the concurrent exercise by home rule
18units of powers and functions exercised by the State.
 
19    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
20becoming law.
