| | 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of 3rd | | 4 | | generation volunteer firefighter Kody Michael Vanfossan of | | 5 | | Christopher, who passed away while responding to a building | | 6 | | fire on May 5, 2019; and
| | 7 | | WHEREAS, Kody Vanfossan was known for his kind heart and | | 8 | | willingness to help others, and he had countless friends, both | | 9 | | in and out of the fire service; and
| | 10 | | WHEREAS, Kody Vanfossan made the ultimate sacrifice in | | 11 | | defense of and in service to his community while responding to | | 12 | | a six alarm fire with the Christopher Fire Department; and
| | 13 | | WHEREAS, Kody Vanfossan was preceded in death by his | | 14 | | grandparents, Libero and Delphine Bartolotti, Mitch Wilkerson, | | 15 | | Bob Adams, and Tom Vanfossan; and
| | 16 | | WHEREAS, Kody Vanfossan was survived by his son, Erik | | 17 | | Michael Vanfossan; his parents; his brother; and his sister; | | 18 | | and
| | 19 | | WHEREAS, The members of the 101st General Assembly offered | | 20 | | their respect and esteem for the ultimate sacrifice paid by |

| | 1 | | fallen firefighter Kody Vanfossan via House Resolution 361; | | 2 | | therefore, be it
| | 3 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | | 4 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE | | 5 | | SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate Illinois Route 148 | | 6 | | north of the City of Christopher at the city limits north of | | 7 | | the intersection of Harrison Street and Highway 148 and south | | 8 | | of the City of Christopher at the northeast intersection of | | 9 | | Yellow Banks Road and Illinois Route 148 as the "Firefighter | | 10 | | Kody M. Vanfossan Memorial Highway"; and be it further
| | 11 | | RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation | | 12 | | is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with | | 13 | | State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs | | 14 | | giving notice of the name of "Firefighter Kody M. Vanfossan | | 15 | | Memorial Highway"; and be it further
| | 16 | | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | | 17 | | presented to the family of Kody Vanfossan, the City of | | 18 | | Christopher, and the Secretary of the Illinois Department of | | 19 | | Transportation.
