SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Reverend Wayne E. Hamilton Sr. of Springfield, who passed away on January 23, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Rev. Hamilton was born in Springfield to Albert Sr. and Delores Hamilton on April 14, 1958; he served in the U.S. Army and married Sherri Fairconnetue on March 28, 1981; and

WHEREAS, Rev. Hamilton retired from Securitas; and

WHEREAS, Rev. Hamilton was a licensed minister with the Church of God, where he served as preacher, elder, choir member, leader of the media ministry, and partner in the outreach ministry at Capital City Church of God; he was a member of the Springfield Illinois Ministerial Alliance, a member of the Ernie Bankhead Neighborhood Association (Chaplin), and a board member of the Child Evangelism Fellowship Lincoln Land Chapter; and

WHEREAS, Rev. Hamilton was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Larry Wayne; and

WHEREAS, Rev. Hamilton is survived by his wife, Sherri; his son, Wayne Jr. (Melissa); his daughter, Sheena; his grandson, Tyree; his sister, Aldorra; his brothers, Albert Jr., David, and Gerald; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Reverend Wayne E. Hamilton Sr. and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Rev. Hamilton as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
