SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

5 ILCS 490/68 new

Amends the State Commemorative Dates Act. Designates September 1 of each year as American Indian Heritage Day to be observed throughout the State as a day to honor the rich history, culture, and heritage of American Indians.

AN ACT concerning State government.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The State Commemorative Dates Act is amended by adding Section 68 as follows:

(5 ILCS 490/68 new)

Sec. 68. American Indian Heritage Day. September 1 of each year is designated as American Indian Heritage Day to be observed throughout the State as a day to honor the rich history, culture, and heritage of American Indians.
