SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Judith "Judie" Chaboude of Saint Charles, Missouri on December 27, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Judie Chaboude was born in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to Hazel Marie Perry and Lewis Leonard Wood on November 10, 1941; she attended Granite City High School and married Fred Willis; and

WHEREAS, Judie Chaboude operated a birthday and wedding cake business, Judie's Cakes, in Granite City for over 20 years; she also was partner and bookkeeper for her husband's business, Cee's Construction Company, until retiring in 2004; and

WHEREAS, Judie Chaboude was active in the Scottish community and was the founder and president of the Scottish Tartan Day festival and parade in St. Charles, Missouri for several years; she served as the historian for the St. Andrew Society from 1998 to 2004 and as ceremony organizer in the Military Order of the Knights Templar of Jerusalem starting in 1998; she also was active in the Christmas Traditions celebrations on Main Street in St. Charles, caroling and organizing the Progressive Dinners; and

WHEREAS, Judie Chaboude's hobbies were sewing, painting, baking, and jigsaw puzzles; she was happiest when her children would gather to laugh, sing, and play musical instruments; and

WHEREAS, Judie Chaboude was reunited with a high school classmate and friend, Geoffrey Glen Chaboude, at a high school class reunion; they married in October of 1991 and were married for 30 years; and

WHEREAS, Judie Chaboude was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband of over 30 years, Fred Willis; and

WHEREAS, Judie Chaboude was mother to Tamera (Reda) Iskarous, Brian Fred (Tracy) Willis, and Michelle Rae (Gary) Ingrham; grandmother of ten and great-grandmother of ten; and sister to John (Sue) Perry and Linda "Jodie" Wood; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Judith "Judie" Chaboude and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Judie Chaboude as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
