SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Delores Yvette "Lois" Hunter of Chicago, who passed away on June 25, 2010; and

WHEREAS, She was born on July 12, 1958 to Lucious "Bilbo" and Flabe "Bea" Hunter in Chicago and grew up in the Robert Taylor Homes, Building 4947; she attended Beethoven Elementary School, DuSable Upper Grade Center, and graduated from DuSable High School in 1976; she also attended Harold Washington Community College; and

WHEREAS, She worked for the Human Resource Development Institute for 13 years; she also worked for Heartland Alliance and Management Planning Institute; and

WHEREAS, She enjoyed playing softball with her sisters on the championship women's team, "The Crushers", and volleyball with her family and friends; she was in charge of the 4H Club and assisted in the Summer Lunch Program as a volunteer; and

WHEREAS, She was a kind, gentle, caring woman and mother; she opened her doors to anyone needing help, a place to stay, food to eat, or someone who needed to talk; her motto was "If I have it, you have it"; and

WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her nephew, Dyron M. Hunter; and her brothers, Lucious Calmese and Calvin D. Hunter; and

WHEREAS, Delores Hunter is survived by her children, Jarrod (Jason), Cameron, and Ashlee Hunter; her sisters, State Senator Mattie Hunter, Brenda J. Hunter, Bonita Ersery, Angela Hunter, and Marilyn Davis; her brothers, James Calmese, Eugene Hunter, Donovan Hunter, and Curtis (Clarissa) Davis; her grandmother and family Matriarch, Lillie Davis; her cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, many friends, and her good friend, Charles Herron, father of Ashlee and Cameron; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Delores Hunter; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Delores Hunter as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
