SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Louis P. Farina, former Alderman in the City of Chicago, who passed away on August 11, 2010; and

WHEREAS, He grew up in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago and was a graduate of Wells High School; he was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army Medical Corp; he was a proud recipient of the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star; and

WHEREAS, He attended DePaul University and John Marshall Law School; he was Chicago's parking commissioner from 1961 to 1978 and a deputy commissioner at the Department of Streets and Sanitation from 1978 to 1980; he was also a real estate agent; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Farina served as an alderman for three years, from 1980 to 1983, serving the 36th Ward; he later worked with the Safer Foundation, helping former inmates; and

WHEREAS, Louis Farina was the beloved husband of Rose, nee Torina; the devoted father of Philip (Kathleen), James (Rita), Richard (Patti), and Mark (Diane) Farina; and the fond grandfather of Lauren, Nicholas, Lisa, Olivia, Michael, Louis, and the late Casey; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Louis Farina; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Louis Farina as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
