SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Adelaide E. Hughes of Waukegan, who passed away on July 13, 2011; and

WHEREAS, Adelaide Hughes was born on November 10, 1922, in Onida, South Dakota; she was a graduate of Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and

WHEREAS, Prior to her marriage, Adelaide Hughes taught high school biology in Muskegon, Michigan; after her children were grown, she worked in the secretarial field for Jobs, Inc. for many years; and

WHEREAS, Adelaide Hughes was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Waukegan; she had recently been honored as a 60-year member of P.E.O.; and

WHEREAS, Adelaide Hughes was preceded in death by her parents, Fredrick and Jean Thompson; her siblings, Sinclair Thompson, Reginald Thompson, Dorothy Duzynski, and David Thompson; and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, George and Luella Hughes; and

WHEREAS, Adelaide Hughes is survived by her loving husband, George Hughes; her daughters, Jean Fitzpatrick, Katherine Hughes, and Dorothy (Jerry) Kraus; her son, William (Ruth Buddenhagen) Hughes; her grandchildren, Christopher Hughes, Rachel Hughes, Karolena Hughes, Alexander Hughes, Elizabeth Schroeder, Mallory Schroeder, Adam Schroeder, and Eric Schroeder; her sisters, Margaret (Richard) Farrar and Jananne Thompson; and her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces, and great-great nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Adelaide E. Hughes; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Adelaide Hughes as an expression of our sympathy.
