HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to mourn the death of Ronald "Ron" Dean Marx, who passed away on November 23, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer with his family by his side; and

WHEREAS, Ron Marx was born on July 6, 1959 in Morris; his parents were Robert Marx and Ellen Marx; he was raised in Morris, graduating with the Class of 1977 from Morris High School, and was married to Barb (nee Neal) Siegel; and

WHEREAS, Ron Marx served in law enforcement as a patrolman in Morris for 5 years; and

WHEREAS, Ron Marx started his career in 1991 as a firefighter and paramedic with the Naperville Fire Department, where he served for over 20 years; and

WHEREAS, Through his service with the Naperville Fire Department, Ron Marx was dedicated to working with the community to strengthen relations, serving on many teams and committees; and

WHEREAS, Ron Marx worked on the Naperville Fire Department's accreditation process and transition into the Edward Hospital Emergency Medical System; he was also part of the Naperville Fire Department Fire Investigation Team; and

WHEREAS, Ron Marx was known for his work with the Naperville Fire Department Public Education Team, where his luminous personality was a perfect fit for interacting with the public; those who knew him best characterized him as a true leader and great mentor to many new firefighters and paramedics; and

WHEREAS, On June 15, 2006, Ron Marx became a member of the Morris Fire Protection and Ambulance District; he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in January of 2012; and

WHEREAS, Ron Marx was a dedicated leader who worked in the development of training programs and officer development within the fire department; he rode in the fire engine until the day he was diagnosed; and

WHEREAS, On December 16, 2006, Ron Marx married Tina Darm, who describes him as the most gentle, loving person she has ever met; and

WHEREAS, Ron Marx enjoyed traveling, camping, and the outdoors, but his greatest love was fire service and his 4 grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Ron Marx was preceded in death by his father; and

WHEREAS, Ron Marx is survived by his wife, Tina; his mother; 2 children, Nicole (Dave) Barr and Brad Chapman; 4 grandchildren, Kiersten, Travis, Aubree, and Olivia Barr; 6 siblings, Robert (Kim), Karen (Gary) Marshall, John (Deb), Jerry (Patti), Darrell (Lyn), and Dennis; and many nieces and nephews; and

WHEREAS, Ron Marx is loved dearly by his family and friends, highly respected for his dedication and knowledge of fire service, and cherished for his service to his community; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Ronald "Ron" Dean Marx and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ron Marx as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
