SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert S. Krockey of Shorewood, who passed away on March 29, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Robert Krockey was born on December 6, 1940 in Chicago; his parents were Sol and Miriam Krockey; and

WHEREAS, Robert Krockey was a proud Roosevelt Rough Rider, graduating with the Class of June 1958; he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from the University of Illinois in 1962 and his Certified Public Accountant designation in 1965; he subsequently graduated from the DePaul University School of Law and became a member of the Illinois Bar in 1966; and

WHEREAS, Robert Krockey practiced law in Joliet from 1967 to 2014; he was senior partner of the law firm Krockey, Cernugel, Cowgill, and Clark; he also served on numerous bar association committees; and

WHEREAS, Robert Krockey was a board member and President of the Will County Legal Assistance Program for many years, devoting many hours of legal aid for the poor; he served as President of the Will County Sheltered Workshop and United Cerebral Palsy, where he was recipient of the Mel Larson Award; he was also a member of the Joliet Jewish Congregation, serving as Vice President at the time of his passing, and a proud amateur musician with the Southwest Community Band, the Joliet Junior College Band, and the Bicentennial Park Band; and

WHEREAS, Robert Krockey was a devoted University of Illinois alumnus and an avid Chicago Bears, Cubs, White Sox, Blackhawks, and Bulls fan; and

WHEREAS, Robert Krockey was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Robert Krockey is survived by his wife of 45 years, Judith (nee Berlinsky) Krockey; son, Brian Krockey and his wife, Lisa (nee Carmignani) Krockey; son, Joshua Krockey; daughter, Stephanie (nee Krockey) Thompson and her husband, John Thompson; grandchildren, Natalie, Isabella, Aaron, and Noelle Krockey; and many cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Robert S. Krockey; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert Krockey as an expression of our sympathy.
