SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Raymond Hartstein of Skokie, who passed away on September 7, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Hartstein served for many years as Director of Personnel and Industrial Relations for Brunswick Corporation until his retirement; prior to his work at Brunswick, he worked with the American Embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel as a management advisor setting up training programs for Israeli industries; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Hartstein was the Founding Chairman of Oakton Community College, where he served as a dedicated board member for 35 years; the Skokie eastern campus was named the Ray Hartstein Campus in honor of his accomplishments; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Hartstein was a proud Rotarian and a former Skokie Rotary President; he served as President and Board member of Orchard Village; he was also a long-time board member of the Skokie United Way and a community leader in countless other community organizations; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Hartstein is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Rhea; he was the devoted dad of Elliott Hartstein (Judy), Barry Hartstein (Sandi), Ellen Kaufman, Larry Miner (Missy), Pam Guarino (Chuck) and the late Jeff Hartstein; the cherished grandfather to Joey Hartstein (Alison), Jamie Tiplitsky (Scott), Scott Hartstein, Brian Hartstein (Becca), Stacey Hersh (Bryan), Kelly Miller (Matt), Adam Dewitt (Merritt), Joshua Lieberman (Andrea), Daniel Kaufman, Michael Kaufman, Kristin Harmic (Matthew), Steven Miner (Nikki), Rachel Forbes (Jon), Amy Guarino, and David Guarino (Natalia); and the adored great-grandpa of Matthew, Emma, Ryder, Casey, Presley, Leo, Zachary, Brandon, Gavin, Charlie, Lux, Maya, Chase, Abbey, Trevor, Lily, Leah, and Keaton; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Raymond Hartstein; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Raymond Hartstein as an expression of our sympathy.
