 1                     AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 495

 2        AMENDMENT NO.     .  Amend House Bill 495 on page 2, line
 3    8, after "Board.", by inserting "The Office of the State Fire
 4    Marshal may  review  the  plans  and  specifications  at  the
 5    request  of  the  local  fire  department  or fire protection
 6    district."; and

 7    on  page  2,  by  replacing  line  19  with   the   following
 8    "district."; and

 9    on page 2, by deleting lines 20 through 23; and

10    on page 2, by replacing line 24 with "The"; and

11    on  page  2,  by  replacing  lines  25  through  34  with the
12    following:
13    "local fire department or fire protection district where  the
14    school  is  being constructed or altered may request a review
15    of the plans and specifications. The regional  superintendent
16    of   schools   shall   submit   a   copy  of  the  plans  and
17    specifications within 10 business days after the request. The
18    fire department or fire protection district  may  comment  on
19    the  plans  and  specifications  based  on  the building code
20    authorized  in  Section  2-3.12  of  the  Code  and,  if  any
21    corrective  action  must  be  taken,  shall  respond  to  the
22    regional superintendent of schools within 15 days after"; and

 1    on page 3, by replacing lines 1 through 5 with the following:
 2    "receipt of the plans and specifications. The Office  of  the
 3    State Fire Marshal may review the plans and specifications at
 4    the  request  of  the  fire  department  or  fire  protection
 5    district.  The  review  must  be  conducted at no cost to the
 6    school district.".
