 1                    AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 1179

 2        AMENDMENT NO.     .  Amend House Bill 1179 on page  4  by
 3    replacing lines 1 through 4 with the following:
 4                  "(iv)  Subject  to appropriation, a $7 per hour
 5             minimum rate beginning July 1, 2003.
 6                  (v)  Subject to appropriation, an $8  per  hour
 7             minimum rate beginning January 1, 2005.
 8                  (vi)  Subject  to  appropriation, a $9 per hour
 9             minimum rate beginning July 1, 2005.
10        If the Department and the personal care attendants  reach
11    any  collective  bargaining agreement regarding the wages and
12    benefits they receive for providing services,  the  terms  of
13    that  agreement  regarding wages and benefits shall supercede
14    any terms of this Section regarding wages and benefits.".
