5 ILCS 490/31 new

    Amends the State Commemorative Dates Act. Designates the first Sunday after Labor Day of each year as Great Grandparents Day.

1     AN ACT concerning State commemorative dates.

2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:

4     Section 5. The State Commemorative Dates Act is amended by
5 adding Section 31 as follows:

6     (5 ILCS 490/31 new)
7     Sec. 31. Great Grandparents Day. The first Sunday after
8 Labor Day of each year is designated as Great Grandparents Day
9 to encourage the citizens of Illinois to honor and celebrate
10 great grandparents throughout the State.
