SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

20 ILCS 2310/2310-145 new

Amends the Department of Public Health Powers and Duties Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Provides that the Department of Public Health shall establish a registry of all active and retired health care professionals to be accessed in the event of an act of bioterrorism or other public health emergency. Effective immediately.

AN ACT concerning health care.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Department of Public Health Powers and Duties Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is amended by adding Section 2310-145 as follows:

(20 ILCS 2310/2310-145 new)

Sec. 2310-145. Registry of health care professionals. The Department shall establish a registry of all active and retired health care professionals, including nurses, nurse practitioners, advanced practice nurses, physicians, physician assistants, emergency medical technicians, psychologists, professional counselors, clinical professional counselors, and pharmacists. The registry shall be accessed in the event of an act of bioterrorism or other public health emergency.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
