 1                    AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 1362

 2        AMENDMENT NO.     .  Amend Senate Bill 1362 on page 1, by
 3    replacing lines 8 and 9 with the following:

 4        "Section 10. The Illinois  Vehicle  Code  is  amended  by
 5    adding Section 3-600.1 and changing Section 3-633 as follows:

 6        (625 ILCS 5/3-600.1 new)
 7        Sec.   3-600.1.   Special   plates;   minimum  number  of
 8    applications required for continued issuance.
 9        (a)  Beginning  with  the  2005  registration  year,  the
10    Secretary of State may reissue only  those  non-military  and
11    non-veteran  special plates that belong to any plate category
12    for  which  the  Secretary  has  received  at   least   3,000
13    applications  as of the effective date of this amendatory Act
14    of the 93rd General Assembly.
15        (b)  Persons who have been issued special plates that are
16    discontinued under subsection (a)  may  continue  to  display
17    those  special  plates,  and  the Secretary shall continue to
18    accept annual fees for renewal stickers for those plates from
19    those persons.
20        (c)  The Secretary shall no longer issue any new category
21    of special plates.
22        (d)  Persons  and  organizations  seeking   issuance   of

 1    special   plates   may   apply   for   Universal   Charitable
 2    Organization license plates under Section 3-633 of this Code,
 3    with  charitable  decals  approved  under  that Section. When
 4    special plates of  a  discontinued  plate  category  must  be
 5    replaced,  the  Secretary  shall  issue  Universal Charitable
 6    Organization plates and decals under Section 3-633 to replace
 7    them, upon receipt of all applicable fees and applications.".
