HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Mildred "Milly" Ruth is retiring after serving Grafton Township in McHenry County for over four decades; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Ruth, whose family was involved in Grafton Township government for decades, is retiring as Township Supervisor; she began serving as the Township's bookkeeper in 1964; she followed both her husband and son as Supervisor; she assisted her husband, Howard, for three terms, then her son, Charles, for two terms; after she was appointed Supervisor, she ran unopposed for the last three terms; and

WHEREAS, She and her husband, Howard, farmed and also owned the Dairy Mart on Route 47 in Huntley; after selling the Dairy Mart, she went to work at Union Special, a commercial sewing machine factory, before going to work for the Township; and

WHEREAS, Grafton Township was at one time considered a rural area, but has diversified and is now considered urban; the Township building has been enlarged and the possibility of senior citizen transportation is being considered; and

WHEREAS, She is proud of Grafton Township's food pantry that has grown over the last several years; it serves more than 100 singles and 45 to 50 families each month; and

WHEREAS, Following her retirement, Mrs. Ruth will still be involved in the American Legion Auxiliary, Chamber of Commerce, and church; she also works at a thrift shop that benefits the hospital in Woodstock; and

WHEREAS, She has two sons, Charles and William, and a daughter, Penny; and

WHEREAS, The citizens of Grafton Township are grateful for Mildred "Milly" Ruth's service to their community; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Mildred "Milly" Ruth for her many years of exemplary service to Grafton Township and wish her the best in her retirement and future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Mildred "Milly" Ruth as an expression of our respect and esteem.
