SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
815 ILCS 370/4.2 new

    Amends the Motor Fuel and Petroleum Standards Act. Provides that, on and after January 1, 2008, any gasoline sold or offered for sale in this State for use in motor vehicles must contain a minimum of 10% ethanol, by volume, with specified exceptions. Effective January 1, 2008.

1     AN ACT concerning business.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Motor Fuel and Petroleum Standards Act is
5 amended by adding Section 4.2 as follows:
 
6     (815 ILCS 370/4.2 new)
7     Sec. 4.2. Required ethanol content for certain gasoline.
8     (a) On and after January 1, 2008, any gasoline sold or
9 offered for sale in this State for use in motor vehicles, as
10 defined in Section 1-146 of the Illinois Vehicle Code, must
11 contain a minimum of 10% ethanol, by volume, except as provided
12 in subsection (b).
13     (b) The standards established under subsection (a) of this
14 Section do not apply to: (1) gasoline sold for use in antique
15 vehicles, as defined in Section 1-102.1 of the Illinois Vehicle
16 Code; (2) gasoline sold for use in motorcycles, as defined in
17 Section 1-147 of the Illinois Vehicle Code; (3) gasoline sold
18 for use in off-highway motorcycles, as defined in Section
19 1-153.1 of the Illinois Vehicle Code; (4) gasoline sold for use
20 as a fuel for off-highway motor sports racing events; and (5)
21 gasoline sold for use as a fuel for watercraft, as defined in
22 Section 1-2 of the Boat Registration and Safety Act.

1     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect January
2 1, 2008.
