AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 4649

AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 4649 by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the following:

"Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by changing the heading of Article V of Chapter 11 and by adding Section 11-507 as follows:

(625 ILCS 5/Ch. 11 Art. V heading)

ARTICLE V. DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED,

TRANSPORTING ALCOHOLIC LIQUOR,

AND RECKLESS DRIVING , AND UNINSURED OPERATION OF A MOTOR

VEHICLE

(625 ILCS 5/11-507 new)

Sec. 11-507. Uninsured operation of a motor vehicle.

(a) A person commits the offense of uninsured operation of a motor vehicle when he or she:

(1) operates a motor vehicle in violation of Section 7-601 of this Code; and

(2) causes bodily harm to another person that was the proximate result of the driver's uninsured operation of the motor vehicle.

(b) Uninsured operation of a motor vehicle is a Class A misdemeanor.".
