1 AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 4992
2     AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 4992 on page 4,
3 immediately below line 14, by inserting the following:

4     "Section 10. The Vital Records Act is amended by adding
5 Section 24.2 as follows:

6     (410 ILCS 535/24.2 new)
7     Sec. 24.2. Records for genealogical purposes.
8 Notwithstanding any other provision of law, any custodian of
9 vital records shall furnish, upon request, to any individual,
10 organization, or entity, for genealogical purposes, access to
11 or reproductions of original records and indexes pertaining to
12 births older than 100 years, deaths older than 50 years, and
13 marriages older than 75 years.".
