AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 2824

2     AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 2824 by replacing
3 everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4     "Section 5. The Downstate Public Transportation Act is
5 amended by adding Section 2-15.3 as follows:
 
6     (30 ILCS 740/2-15.3 new)
7     Sec. 2-15.3. Transit services for disabled individuals.
8 Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, no later than 60 days
9 following the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 95th
10 General Assembly, all fixed route public transportation
11 services provided by, or under grant or purchase of service
12 contract of, any participant shall be provided without charge
13 to all disabled persons who meet the income eligibility
14 limitation set forth in subsection (a-5) of Section 4 of the
15 Senior Citizens and Disabled Persons Property Tax Relief and
16 Pharmaceutical Assistance Act, under such procedures as shall

1 be prescribed by the participant. The Department on Aging shall
2 furnish all information reasonably necessary to determine
3 eligibility, including updated lists of individuals who are
4 eligible for services without charge under this Section.
 
5     Section 10. The Metropolitan Transit Authority Act is
6 amended by adding Section 52 as follows:
 
7     (70 ILCS 3605/52 new)
8     Sec. 52. Transit services for disabled individuals.
9 Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, no later than 60 days
10 following the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 95th
11 General Assembly, all fixed route public transportation
12 services provided by, or under grant or purchase of service
13 contract of, the Board shall be provided without charge to all
14 disabled persons who meet the income eligibility limitation set
15 forth in subsection (a-5) of Section 4 of the Senior Citizens
16 and Disabled Persons Property Tax Relief and Pharmaceutical
17 Assistance Act, under such procedures as shall be prescribed by
18 the Board. The Department on Aging shall furnish all
19 information reasonably necessary to determine eligibility,
20 including updated lists of individuals who are eligible for
21 services without charge under this Section.
 
22     Section 15. The Local Mass Transit District Act is amended
23 by adding Section 8.7 as follows:

1     (70 ILCS 3610/8.7 new)
2     Sec. 8.7. Transit services for disabled individuals.
3 Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, no later than 60 days
4 following the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 95th
5 General Assembly, all fixed route public transportation
6 services provided by, or under grant or purchase of service
7 contract of, any District shall be provided without charge to
8 all disabled persons who meet the income eligibility limitation
9 set forth in subsection (a-5) of Section 4 of the Senior
10 Citizens and Disabled Persons Property Tax Relief and
11 Pharmaceutical Assistance Act, under such procedures as shall
12 be prescribed by the District. The Department on Aging shall
13 furnish all information reasonably necessary to determine
14 eligibility, including updated lists of individuals who are
15 eligible for services without charge under this Section.
 
16     Section 20. The Regional Transportation Authority Act is
17 amended by adding Sections 3A.16 and 3B.15 as follows:
 
18     (70 ILCS 3615/3A.16 new)
19     Sec. 3A.16. Transit services for disabled individuals.
20 Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, no later than 60 days
21 following the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 95th
22 General Assembly, all fixed route public transportation
23 services provided by, or under grant or purchase of service

1 contract of, the Suburban Bus Board shall be provided without
2 charge to all disabled persons who meet the income eligibility
3 limitation set forth in subsection (a-5) of Section 4 of the
4 Senior Citizens and Disabled Persons Property Tax Relief and
5 Pharmaceutical Assistance Act, under such procedures as shall
6 be prescribed by the Board. The Department on Aging shall
7 furnish all information reasonably necessary to determine
8 eligibility, including updated lists of individuals who are
9 eligible for services without charge under this Section.
 
10     (70 ILCS 3615/3B.15 new)
11     Sec. 3B.15. Transit services for disabled individuals.
12 Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, no later than 60 days
13 following the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 95th
14 General Assembly, all fixed route public transportation
15 services provided by, or under grant or purchase of service
16 contract of, the Commuter Rail Board shall be provided without
17 charge to all disabled persons who meet the income eligibility
18 limitation set forth in subsection (a-5) of Section 4 of the
19 Senior Citizens and Disabled Persons Property Tax Relief and
20 Pharmaceutical Assistance Act, under such procedures as shall
21 be prescribed by the Board. The Department on Aging shall
22 furnish all information reasonably necessary to determine
23 eligibility, including updated lists of individuals who are
24 eligible for services without charge under this Section.".
