AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 2433

2     AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 2433 on page 1, by
3 replacing line 10 with "Sections 3-684 and 3-685 as follows:";
4 and
 
5 on page 3, by inserting below line 6 the following:
 
6     "(625 ILCS 5/3-685 new)
7     Sec. 3-685. Special registration plate for a retired mayor
8 of a city or president of a village or incorporated town.
9     (a) The Secretary, upon receipt of all applicable fees and
10 applications made in the form prescribed by the Secretary, may
11 issue special registration plates to retired mayors of cities
12 or presidents of villages or incorporated towns, bearing
13 appropriate wording or abbreviations indicating that the
14 holder is a retired mayor of a city or president of a village
15 or incorporated town. "Retired mayor of a city or president of
16 a village or incorporated town" means any individual who has

1 served as a mayor of a city or president of a village or
2 incorporated town for a minimum of 4 years.
3     The special plates issued under this Section shall be
4 affixed only to passenger vehicles of the first division or
5 motor vehicles of the second division weighing not more than
6 8,000 pounds.
7     Plates issued under this Section shall expire according to
8 the multi-year procedure established by Section 3-414.1 of this
9 Code.
10     (b) The design and color of the special plates shall be
11 wholly within the discretion of the Secretary. Appropriate
12 documentation, as determined by the Secretary, shall accompany
13 each application. The Secretary may, in his or her discretion,
14 allow the plates to be issued as vanity or personalized plates
15 in accordance with Section 3-405.1 of this Code.
16     (c) An applicant for the special plate shall be charged a
17 $15 fee for original issuance in addition to the appropriate
18 registration fee. This additional fee shall be deposited into
19 the Secretary of State Special License Plate Fund, to be used
20 by the Secretary to help defray the administrative processing
21 costs.
22     For each registration renewal period, a $2 fee, in addition
23 to the appropriate registration fee, shall be charged. This
24 additional fee shall be deposited into the Secretary of State
25 Special License Plate Fund.".
