SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

215 ILCS 5/143e new

Amends the Illinois Insurance Code. Requires all companies issuing policies of automobile insurance to provide to a policyholder who submits certification of the completion of a course in the installation of a child restraint system a discount in the amount of 5% of the premium charges for the 6 months following receipt of the certification. Effective immediately.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning insurance.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended by adding Section 143e as follows:

(215 ILCS 5/143e new)

Sec. 143e. Automobile insurance; discount for child restraint system installation course. All companies issuing policies of automobile insurance, as defined in Section 143.13 of this Code, shall provide to a policyholder who submits certification of the completion of a course in the installation of a child restraint system, as defined in the Child Passenger Protection Act, a discount in the amount of 5% of the premium charges for the 6 months following receipt of the certification.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
