SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
305 ILCS 5/5-2a new

    Amends the Medical Assistance Article of the Illinois Public Aid Code. Requires the Department of Healthcare and Family Services to conduct an analysis and deliver a report to the General Assembly by January 1, 2012 to evaluate the feasibility of changing Illinois' Medicaid State Plan from 209(b) status to the federal 1634 eligibility determination status for applicable individuals as provided in the Social Security Act. Provides that the report shall include a review of the current standard used by the Department, anticipated fiscal implications of converting to 1634 status, anticipated changes in caseloads resulting from a change to 1634 status, and any additional information deemed relevant by the Department to evaluate the feasibility of converting to 1634 status. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning public aid.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by
5adding Section 5-2a as follows:
 
6    (305 ILCS 5/5-2a new)
7    Sec. 5-2a. Medicaid State Plan; eligibility determination
8status. The Department shall conduct an analysis and deliver a
9report to the General Assembly by January 1, 2012 to evaluate
10the feasibility of changing Illinois' Medicaid State Plan from
11209(b) status to the federal 1634 eligibility determination
12status for applicable individuals as provided in the Social
13Security Act. The report shall include a review of the current
14standard used by the Department, anticipated fiscal
15implications of converting to 1634 status, anticipated changes
16in caseloads resulting from a change to 1634 status, and any
17additional information deemed relevant by the Department to
18evaluate the feasibility of converting to 1634 status.
 
19    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
20becoming law.
