HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Marcella Hawthorne on the occasion of her retirement after many years of dedicated service with the United States Social Security Administration on March 3, 2011; and

WHEREAS, Marcella Hawthorne attended school at Kenwood High School; and

WHEREAS, Marcella Hawthorne began her career with the Social Security Administration in July of 1970 as a Stay-in-School employee; she steadily ascended through the ranks, serving in such positions as Claims Development Clerk, Service Representative, Claims Representative, Operations Supervisor, Field Services Specialist, Security Specialist, Project Manager, Assistant District Manager, and District Manager; she eventually rose to the position of District Manager of the Social Security Administration's Chicago East Field Office, where she remained until her retirement; and

WHEREAS, Marcella Hawthorne is the loving mother of Lonneice and the devoted grandmother of Diamond, Summer, and Satynn; and

WHEREAS, A celebration in honor of Marcella Hawthorne and her many accomplishments at the Social Security Administration will be held on March 12, 2011 at the Grand Ballroom in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Marcella Hawthorne serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Marcella Hawthorne on the occasion of her retirement and wish her many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Marcella Hawthorne as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
