| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Diane O'Keefe on | 4 | | the occasion of her retirement after 31 years of service with | 5 | | the Illinois Department of Transportation; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Diane O'Keefe served as the Deputy Director of | 7 | | Highways, District One Regional Engineer of the Illinois | 8 | | Department of Transportation; she was one of the first women in | 9 | | the State to serve as a Regional Engineer; in this capacity, | 10 | | she oversaw the largest district of the Department of | 11 | | Transportation, covering Cook, Lake, DuPage, Will, McHenry, | 12 | | and Kane Counties, including the City of Chicago; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Diane O'Keefe spent 14 years in construction | 14 | | before beginning program development and overseeing the | 15 | | preliminary engineering functions of project design, plan | 16 | | preparation, and right of way acquisition; she subsequently | 17 | | became the District 3 Engineer and oversaw all elements of the | 18 | | State highway transportation system for an 11-county area in | 19 | | North Central Illinois before returning to District One; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Diane O'Keefe earned her bachelor's degree in | 21 | | civil engineering from Michigan Technological University; she | 22 | | is a registered professional engineer in Illinois, and is a |

| 1 | | former recipient of the ASCE Young Government Civil Engineer of | 2 | | the Year Award, IDOT's Outstanding Service Award, IDOT's Award | 3 | | of Merit for Professional Excellence, and the 2008 APWA Chicago | 4 | | Chapter award for Top Ten Public Works Leader of the Year; | 5 | | therefore, be it
| 6 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 7 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 8 | | the members of this body, in particular the women members of | 9 | | the Illinois House of Representatives, congratulate Diane | 10 | | O'Keefe on the occasion of her retirement, thank her for her | 11 | | dedication to the State of Illinois, and wish her success and | 12 | | happiness in her future endeavors; and be it further
